How much does a fuse box replacement cost in Tameside?
There are three fixed prices: £449 up to 6 circuits, £549 up to 10 and £695 for 11 or more. Across Tameside most terraces sit in the first two packages, while extended semis in Denton and Hyde often need the third. Earthing, meter tails or bonding are priced from your three photos, so the fixed price is the price.
How a price is built →One borough, three kinds of house
The Tame valley towns grew around cotton, and the terraces that climb the hillsides in Stalybridge, Mossley and Ashton were built for gas light. Electricity came later, the meter went wherever the cable first entered, and plenty of these houses still keep a rewireable fuse box on a cellar wall or boxed in behind the front door. On hillside terraces with damp back walls, the earthing and the state of the meter tails are what we study hardest in your photos.
Further west the ground flattens and the housing changes. Denton, Audenshaw and Droylsden are mostly 1930s semis and later private estates, usually with an under-stairs board from a 1970s rewire or a 1980s split-load unit that never had RCBOs. Then there are the overspill estates, Hattersley above all, built in the 1960s to rehouse families from Manchester. Many of those homes were bought by their tenants and have been extended since, and the original board has often not kept up.
Our towns across Tameside
Four Tameside towns have their own pages with more detail, because each has its own pattern. In Ashton-under-Lyne it is terraced rentals around the town centre and a steady flow of landlord EICRs. Stalybridge brings the steepest streets and the oldest stone, where an earthing upgrade is a common line on the quote. Hyde mixes brick terraces with post-war estates, and Denton is where extensions, lofts and EV chargers push a 1970s board past what it can take.
Wherever you are in the borough, the job itself is the same: three photos, a fixed written price within two working hours, and one visit with the power off for roughly four to six hours. Denton and Audenshaw, right on the M60, usually get a slot within two or three working days, while Mossley and the Longdendale villages are grouped later the same week. There is no travel charge anywhere in the borough.

Yes. Every Tameside postcode is covered at the same fixed prices with no travel charge, from Droylsden and Audenshaw out to Mossley, Hattersley, Mottram and Hollingworth. The outer villages are grouped into rounds later in the week, which keeps dates predictable.
Often, yes. Many ex-council homes here had one board fitted during a council upgrade and nothing since, so there is no RCD or RCBO protection and no spare ways for anything added later. Your photos tell us how many circuits you have and which package fits.
A clamp on the incoming water pipe was common once, but plastic supply pipes mean it can no longer be relied on. If your earthing photo shows that arrangement, we price an earthing upgrade in advance, usually £80 to £160, and fit it on the same visit as the new board.
