How much does a fuse box replacement cost in Hale?
Most Hale houses need the £695 package, 11 or more circuits, because of their size, extensions and outbuildings. Smaller semis and cottages near the village are £549 or £449. Earthing, meter tails and bonding are added only if your photos show they are needed, and the price is fixed in writing before we book.
How a price is built →Two Hales, two generations of wiring
The late Victorian and Edwardian houses around Hale station and Ashley Road were built with coach houses, stables and long gardens, and the outbuildings often took their own supply from the house decades ago. It is common to find a presentable board in the house and, at the end of a buried cable, an old fuse box in a converted coach house or garage that nobody has looked at since it went in. A replacement here means looking at both ends.
Hale Barns is a different era. Its detached houses were largely built in the 1960s and 70s, and the ones not yet fully renovated can still carry an original board, sometimes with rewireable fuses, feeding a house that now has electric gates, garage doors, garden lighting and perhaps underfloor heating in a newer extension. Your photos let us count the real circuits in advance, which is how we fix a price for a house with a long list.
Fitting the board before the renovation starts
A lot of Hale houses change hands with a renovation already planned, and the fuse board is the job worth doing first. Kitchen fitters, bathroom installers and decorators all need power, and a new metal consumer unit with spare ways gives every trade that follows something safe to connect to. Doing it early also means every circuit is dead and live tested before walls are closed up, so any fault turns up while it is still easy to reach.
Hale is within easy reach of our Trafford Park base, so we can usually fit around a builder’s programme rather than hold it up. The Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification are handed over on the day, ready for the renovation file, and the 5-year workmanship guarantee transfers with the house, which matters when a renovated Hale property eventually goes back on the market.

Usually, yes. Send a photo of the outbuilding board along with the three main photos and we price both together. Whether the outbuilding keeps a small board of its own or is fed from a protected way in the main consumer unit depends on the cable run, and the quote says which.
Almost always. Houses with that many circuits go into our £695 package for 11 or more, and each circuit gets its own RCBO rather than sharing a switchfuse. Nothing typically goes above about £995 even with every extra, and the count comes straight from your photos.
Yes, and it helps to say so when you send the photos. We fit the board in one visit, usually early in the programme, with spare ways left for the new kitchen or bathroom circuits other trades will add. Power is off for four to six hours, so plan that day around it.
